Following President Obama’s Job Summit, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), chairman of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Economic Policy, will conduct a hearing tomorrow entitled “Weathering the Storm: Creating Jobs in the Recession.”
As of last week, estimates of long-term displaced workers jumped to nearly 40 percent. Brown will investigate how to address the growing number of unemployed workers, expand support for middle class families, and strengthen recovery efforts, which have sustained 1.5 million jobs this year.
Brown will hear expert testimony from Ray Leach, CEO, Jumpstart, Inc.; Mr. Rick L. Weddle, President and CEO, The Research Triangle Park; Mr. Bruce Katz, Vice President, Brookings Institution and Founding Director, Metropolitan Policy Program; and Heather Boushey, Senior Economist, Center for American Progress.
